Acne

Remedies For A Smoother Skin.

Do you have acne ? Acne maybe the scourge of adolescent years, but it can follow people into middle age and beyond.

Acne is really a catchall term for a variety of symptoms such as pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads. It’s a condition where the pores of skin become clogged and the person gets inflamed and non-inflamed lesions.

So what’s the cause of all the clogging ?……

Heredity - at least for the most part. Acne is genetic - it tends to run in families, it is an inherited defect of your pores. If both your parents had acne, three out of four of your brothers and sisters will get it too.

Factors that can aggravate an acne outbreak are :- Stress, sun exposure, seasonal changes, and climate can all precipitate an acne attack. Certain types of makeup and taking birth control pills can also cause a breakout.

Change Your Make-up

In adult women, make-up is the major factor in acne outbreaks, especially oil based products. It’s the oil that causes the problem. The oil is usually a derivative of fatty acids that are more potent than your own fatty acids. Use a non-oil-based make-up if you are prone to acne.

Read The labels.

Cosmetic products that contain lanolins, isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulphate, laureth-4 and D & C red dyes should be avoided. Like oil, these ingredients are too rich for the skin.

Wash Properly.

Wash your make-up off thoroughly every night. Use a mild soap twice a day and make sure you rinse the soap entirely off your face. Rinse six or seven times with fresh water.

Use Less Make-up.

Whatever make-up you use, try to cut down on the amount you put on.

Leave Well Alone.

Don’t squeeze pimples or whiteheads. A pimple is an inflammation, and you could add to the inflammation by squeezing it, which could lead to an infection. A pimple will always go away in one to four weeks if you leave them alone.

Know When To Squeeze.

Most pimples are best left alone, but there is one kind that you can squeeze to help get rid of it. If the pimple has a little central yellow pus head in it, then a gentle squeeze will make it pop open very nicely. Once the pus pops out, the pimple will heal more quickly.

Attack Blackheads.

You can also get rid of blackheads by squeezing them. A blackhead is a very blocked pore, and a gentle squeeze will help rectifty this.

Give Dry Skin Extra Care.

Dry skin can be sensitive to some over the counter skin treatments, so please use these treatments with care. Start with the lower strength products first, and then increase the concentration slowly.

Stay Out Of The Sun.

Acne medications may cause adverse reactions to the sun, so minimize you exposure until you know what the reactions going to be.

Use One Treatment At A Time.

Don’t mix treatments, use only one at a time because they may cause an adverse reaction if mixed together.

Stop The Spread Of Acne.

Apply acne medication about half an inch around the affected area, to help keep the acne from spreading. Acne moves across the face from the nose to the ear, so you need to treat beyond the inflamed area. Most people make the mistake of treating only the pimples and not the outlaying areas of skin. This is wrong.

If you are an acne sufferer, then I trust this information will be very helpful to you. Thanks for reading my article. http://www.acne-information-guide.com

Fitness and Health

June 28th, 2008

For most of us from the government schools, PE (physical education) was in the school curriculum. So we had no choice but to comply and treat it as one of the school subjects. For the outdoor initiated, the PE lessons were great as it gave many an outlet for all the youthful hormones to exert themselves. For those of us who dread PE (including myself), our main thoughts were more like “what is the use of PE when it doesn’t improve our exam scores.” We were so wrong then.

Only now, as we approach the middle age do we realized the mistake of not having built up a more robust physique through our younger days to handle the pressures and stress of today’s life. However, it is not too late. It is not the end of my life yet. I can still make a difference.

Didn’t someone once said, that the glory of this temple in our later days will be more glorious than our former ones. So here I am, writing something on fitness hoping to spur my middle aged body on to greater heights.

The best way to good health is mild to moderate physical exercises. This suits me just fine, because we are so, so busy and time is a precious commodity in today’s economy. The least amount of time spent on physical torturing exercises and yet be able to help me maintain a healthy body - will be just right for me.

All I want to achieve is a healthy body. I am not a fitness guru or an exercise freak (sorry for the term used). I enjoy a little bit of laziness once a while.

I like to pamper myself with some pleasures such as fine dining and couching in front of the TV. But I realized that this cannot be the norm or else I will be digging my own grave sooner rather than later.

Do you want to be fit or do you want to be healthy? Hey, I thought that meant the same.

Well, fitness has been defined in relation to a concept called physical work capacity, or how much work the body can do. A person’s fitness can be determined in a laboratory by looking at how much energy they can produce on a cycle ergometer when cycling at a specific heart rate, or on an athletic track by looking at how far they can run in a set time. Fitness can also be understood in relation to a number of components including endurance, flexibility, strength and power. You need to be fit to play many sports, including football, hockey and tennis.

On the other hand, good health is a broader concept that includes being free from sicknesses and diseases, and be in a proper state of mental and spiritual wellbeing.

Normally, being fit and being healthy go hand in hand. But it is not always so. For example, you can be very fit, through playing tennis, but suffer a major health problem such as alcoholism.

When we understand these two concepts and the difference between fitness and good health, then you will realized that actually you need less exercise to be healthy. You actually need more exercise to get fit and to remain fit.

How to be fit?

Many people have a need to be fit because their jobs or careers demands it. If you are an athlete or a sportsman you need to be fit or else you are out of the game. If you are a soldier or a fireman, you need to be fit because it could mean a life or death decision for you just when you need it the most.

To be fit, you will have to follow a set program of exercise which we call training. Proper training will always take place in a right and professional environment that have the facilities to train you through expert and regimented supervision. Examples of such fitness training are gymnastic training, running, weight lifting, swimming programs etc.

In such an environment, the intensity of the exercise program is varied to achieve the different levels of fitness. It means that if you want to be very, very fit, you need to exercise at an above moderate or high intensity level. Normally, in achieving such fitness goal levels, the individual will undoubtedly also become healthier. However, if you don’t want to be fit but just healthy, you don’t have to exercise as hard.

How to be healthy?

On the other hand, if all you want to be is healthy, then you just need a milder level of exercises to be healthy and to remain in good health. Sometimes the fear and anxiety of suffering from heart diseases, excessive cholesterol in blood stream, obesity or mental health problems, propels us to remain physically active.

You do not need to have the same intensity of training to remain healthy as compared to remain fit. You can encompass your physical exercises into your normal routine. Instead of getting into your compact car and drive round the block, purpose to park at a distance and walk all the way. Walk through the golf course and carry your own bag instead of hitching a golf cart or engage a caddie. Perform some simple exercises behind the office desk using isometric exercises when nobody is looking. Do some pushup or situps in between commercials in the TV.

All I am saying is you don’t need to torture yourself to remain healthy.

Some active living tips:

* Use the stairs instead of the lift or escalator.

* Don’t use the remote control to change TV channels. Get up from your chair.

* Bring along your jogging shoes when you travel outstation, just in case you find
some free time for a short walk/jog.

To be healthy, some experts recommend being physically active on at least five days out of seven.

We’re increasingly living in a world where we require less and less physical activity in our lives. We have domestic appliances to wash and dry for us, cars to transport us and desks at which to sit and work or study.
In school we are always told to ’sit still’.

In view of these “bad” technological influences that have stopped us from moving, any physical activity is a health gain.

Not everyone can subscribe to a magic formula on the amount of exercise in order to achieve a benefit.

The right key is to make an effort and persevere. As soon as you move, you win!

If you have no idea at all for keep-fit ideas, consider some of the following?

* dancing - you name the style

* bikes, scooters, inline skates and skateboarding

* ice skating, dry skiing and snowboarding

* gymnastics/tumbling

* swimming

* martial arts

* gym-based activities

* team sports (football, volleyball, basketball, baseball etc)

* walking

* skipping or jump rope

* kites and frisbees

* hide and seek

* dog walking

For young people, you can also exercise and earn money at the same time: wash the car, shovel snow, do the shopping, wash the windows, vacuum or do the gardening.

Cheers to Healthy Living.

How To Control Your Arousal Levels And End Premature Ejaculation Using Different Sexual Positions

June 27th, 2008

You cannot have sex without using at least one sexual position - that’s obvious, right?

Most people, though, tend to use more than one. The average number of positions used per sex “session” is two.

That may seem like a really low number, but considering 70% of men ejaculate before they or their partner are satisfied, it’s not surprising so few positions are able to be used.

The key point that should be noted here, though, is not the number of positions the average couple use, but is instead a much broader principle: Sex, as a physical act, is fundamentally based around the use of different positions.

Therefore, they are inherently linked to the performance of the male, each having a different effect on him and each bringing about a varied amount of satisfaction in the female. Understanding that simple principle allows you, as a man, to latch onto a much more powerful and useable concept:

Your sexual performance, arousal containment and general ability to perform impressively in bed can be directly controlled, improved and boosted by the effective choice and use of sex positions. That’s the topic of this article - so let’s wade right in.

The first thing to always bear in mind when you have sex is how each sex position you use will affect your arousal control - that is, your ability to maintain an erection and continue sex without interruptions and without ejaculating too soon.

Certain positions, because of the way your body is posed, put stress on your legs, arms or other parts of your body. This stress, caused by maintaining the position while having sex, makes controlling your arousal and holding back from ejaculation much more difficult.

Contrary to popular belief, the missionary position does not offer you much control over your arousal - despite the fact you’re controlling the motion/action of intercourse. This is because, to properly maintain the missionary position, you have to support your body weight using a combination of your arms and legs. You’re essentially propping yourself up. After a couple of minutes of propping and thrusting, the stress on your body’s muscles has often increased just enough to tip you over the edge, which causes you to suddenly lose control of your arousal levels and ejaculate too soon.

However, this doesn’t mean you should remove the missionary position from your love-making repertoire. What you should do, is simply be aware of the stresses it can cause and the effects those stresses can have on your ability to control your arousal levels. With this knowledge, you can choose to use the missionary position as the first one in your sex session - while you’re most in control and least tired overall.

Let’s take this principle of bodily stress and its resulting negative effects on your performance control further. Positions such as ‘woman on top’ or ‘reverse woman on top’ (her facing away from you, while sitting on you) offer you better control than positions in which you squat down or prop yourself up on an elbow or hand - regardless of the fact that she’s controlling the action.

Therefore, try using them nearer the end of your love-making session, when you’re the most physically fatigued and closest to ejaculating - these are the times when removing the stress caused by certain sex positions can prove crucial in allowing you to avoid premature ejaculation.

Finally, never underestimate the power of the ‘Spoons’ position. ‘Spoons’, if you don’t already know, involves you lying on your side with your legs slightly bent, with the female pressed against your front, her legs slightly parted, her hips tilted to one side, and her knees bent.

This position offers you massive control over your arousal levels. First, because you’re lying down and not forced to maintain an awkward pose (which eliminates the bodily stress principle just described). Second, because you’re fully in control of the thrusting action, which means you can speed up or decrease the power, depth and frequency of the action. And, if those reasons weren’t enough, you’re in a great position to lean your head over her shoulder, slow down the rhythmic thrust of your hips (and therefore give yourself time to calm your arousal levels), and gently kiss and caress her neck and cheek.

Women love men who take control during sex through the use of different positions. They, however, don’t realise that sex positions give you, as a man, an alternative kind of control - in the form of reliable arousal containment and in the overall improvement of the length and quality of your sexual performance.

Always remember to use sex positions wisely!

UPS Battery - Useful Protection for Your Office

June 26th, 2008

Just think of the hassle that you would half to go through if you had to redo all the work on your computer for that day because of a power failure. Everyone thinks that they are safe because they are connected to a surge protector but yet that means that when you loose power your computer still has a hard shut down and all it does is help stop a power surge to hit your computer.

Can you just imagine that you had a presentation on your computer that you were working on all day and forgot to save it? Then all of the sudden the power goes out from an electrical storm and you loose all that days’ hard work.

Just how would you get through the presentation if you had to sit down and redo all the work that you already spent all day doing once when lets say that the presentation is first thing in the morning.

Here is a way to make sure that your computer doesn’t crash when the power suddenly goes out when you are working on an important project at work or at home. This UPS battery is something like a surge protector but it has a series of batteries in side so that you do not loose all power at once.

With the UPS battery you will have a chance to save all your work and safely shut down the computer before you loose everything. Just think of the pain and embarrassment that you would not half to go through when you don’t half to redo all your work a second time around.

Plus just think, then you would not be too warn out and tired from trying to redo all the work that night for the next day if you waited until the last minute to get your work done.

Do you think that everyone would be better off if they would get a UPS Battery for their home and office? Lets see it would be a benefit because then you would not half to loose any of your hard work because of a power failure from the weather or from an accident.

Selecting Bridal Shower Favors

June 26th, 2008

A wedding ceremony is as unique as the couple exchanging their vows. To add to that uniqueness there are particular wedding decoration that can be chosen. These wedding decorations reflect what the bride and groom wish to convey to those witnessing the declaration of their vows.

The marriage ceremony can be simple or elaborate. The wedding decorations chosen can be limited by budget, but even with minimal investment can serve to enhance the beauty of the love and devotion celebrated. Simple wedding decorations can include thematic color, candles, and flowers.

Thematic Color

One of the key visual features involving a wedding decoration is the color selected. This color generally threads its way through the entire venue chosen for the ceremony and is often the main color chosen for the bridesmaid’s attire. This wedding decoration is primary in regards to reflecting the love of the bride and groom.

Candles

Candles are an important wedding decorations as they symbolize the shining warmth, burning love, softness, and romance of the wedding ceremony. Following the thematic color chosen by the bride this wedding decoration symbolizes the prayers offered by the marriage guests on behalf of the marital couple.

Another candle feature would be the unity candle. This wedding decoration symbolizes the marital union of not only two lives, but the joining of two families together. With two tapers on either side of a large pillar candle this wedding decoration is prominently placed in proximity to the marriage ceremony. Prior to the arrival of the bride to be the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom come forward and light the two tapers.

During the actual ceremony the bride and groom move forward to the unity candle and light the large pillar candle from the flames of the two separate tapers. The lighting of the unity candle symbolically reflects their new family and union from two separate families.

Flowers

Flowers are another important wedding decoration. Their beauty, fragrance, and vibrancy add to the festivities and reflect the blossoming of love between a man and a woman. It is best to work with a professional florist and select the flowers that best match what the wedding ceremony is trying to create through the use of decorations.

Finally, many hands make light work. Therefore, have someone assigned to oversee this wedding decoration. Work off a checklist which includes the proper number of bouquets, boutonnieres, bridal bouquet, etc.

Evaluating MLB Pitching

June 25th, 2008

As a MLB baseball fan and sports bettor, you probably know that one key element in any baseball game is the pitching. A solid pitcher can completely shutdown an opposing side. What happens when you have two very good pitchers going at it? Usually the game is low scoringno matter how good the hitters are. Just the opposite can happen when to sub-par pitchers take the mound. Knowing how to properly evaluate pitching is key to winning your baseball bets. However, evaluating can be a complicated task. Just what should we pay attention to? That’s the purpose of this article. We will discus what’s important to look at and use the past performance of real pitchers to illustrate these points. It’s time to play ball.

ERA

The most common mistake for those wagering on MLB baseball has to be simply looking at the pitcher’s ERA. The ERA is important, but you have to dig a little deeper to get the full story. Let’s take a look at Chicago White Sox pitcher Freddy Garcia. Let’s imagine that it’s late in the season and he’s on the mound with his 3.87 ERA. It would be easy to look at that and decide that he’s a good pitcher. However, looking at his stats deeper tells a tale of two pitchershome and away. Let’s compare.

1.At home, Garcia has a 4-5 record. On the road he is 10-3.
2.At home, his ERA is 4.38. On the road his ERA is 3.40.
3.At home he gave up 17 home runs 38 walks. On the road he gave up 9 home runs and 22 walks.
4.He pitched 10 more innings on the road.

So what does this data tell you? For one, it tells you that Freddy Garcia is not a good pitcher at home. By looking deeper into the ERA and where the game is being played, you can get a better picture of just who’s taking the mound for a game.

Team Performance

Another area you want to look at is team performance, which looks at how well the pitcher has performed against the team. While you can look at history, it’s best to look at the current season and only pull in history if there are no current season performances. The reason is simple; teams change, at least a little, each year. Let’s keep looking at Freddy Garcia to see why team performance is so important. Take a look at a couple teams Garcia pitched against in 2005 and the outcome.

1.Garcia pitched four games against Detroit and had a 2.61 ERA.
2.Garcia pitched four games against Cleveland and had a 2.63 ERA.
3.Garcia pitched three games against Seattle and had an 8.35 ERA.
4.Garcia pitched two games against Oakland and had a 3.46 ERA.

By looking at team performance, we can see that Garcia’s outcome fluctuated and there are certain teams that he just does not do well against and others he dominates. We just looked at ERA here, but you can drill down further and look at overall pitching performance such as: hits, walks, home runs, innings pitched and so forth.

Inning Count

The last area of our discussion involves inning count. It’s vital that you know how deep, on average, the pitcher goes into games. If the pitcher is known for 5-6 inning outings, then you know the bullpen will be a major factor in the game. If this is the case and the team’s bullpen is suspect, you have to devalue the starting pitcher some. If you have a pitcher that normally works 7-8 innings and the team has a dominant closer and possibly a very good setup man, then you can focus more on the starting pitcher. Here’s an example list of pitchers and their 2005 averages.

1.Freddy Garcia 7 innings.
2.Randy Johnson 6 2/3 innings.
3.Pedro Martinez 7 innings.
4.Jose Contrares 6 13/ innings.
5.Livian Hernandez 7 innings.

In the case of Randy Johnson and Jose Contrares, we would have to discount their ability slightly if their team’s bullpen was not solid. Getting 7 innings of work out of a starting pitcher is good and about the average.

So the next time you go to bet baseball, look at who is pitching and do a little evaluating. It will pay off in the end.

How to Give Your Child Encyclopedic Knowledge?

June 24th, 2008

When you talk about multiply your child’s intelligence, you can’t help but to mention about Dr. Glenn Doman. He is the founder of The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential and began pioneering the field of child brain development since 1940. He and the institute are famous for their pioneering work with brain-injured children and their work in early development for well children.

Glenn has authored many books and materials that teach parents how to teach their babies at home such as ‘How to teach your baby to read’, ‘How to teach your baby math’, ‘How to teach your baby to be physically superb’. Of course, his best selling book “How to give your baby encyclopedic knowledge” that I had used to train my children. Guess what? It really works.

How to give your baby encyclopedic knowledge” - Glenn Doman

Glenn, after 40 years at the Institute, had learned that: “Every child born has, at the instant of birth, a higher potential intelligence than Leonardo Da Vinci ever used”. He strongly believes that it is easier to give a one-year-old encyclopedic knowledge than it is to give it to a six-year-old. The book tells you exactly how to give encyclopedic knowledge to a tiny child starting at birth or at any time prior to six years of age. To summarize his method to teach your child to acquire encyclopedic knowledge, here are the steps:

1. Identify the knowledge to teach your child. In an intellectual sense, it is knowledge from science, to art, biology, geography, history, music, language, literature, and all else that matters to man.

2. Once the divisions of knowledge been identified. Go further to list ten categories in each of the division of knowledge. For example, in ‘Biology’ division, you can list categories such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and etc.

3. Next, list the ‘bit of intelligence’ (BOI) under each category. For example, under mammal category, you can list down the bit of intelligence such as lion, tiger, cow, wolf and etc. Since knowledge is based on information which can be gained only through facts. Presenting those facts (BOI) in a properly way to a child will ensure these knowledge literally grows in the child’s brain and they will be the base of all his future knowledge.

4. The characteristic of presenting the BOI in a proper way are: BOI must be accurate, one item only (no other items in the background. You may have come across poster board with many animals, this is NOT the proper way to teach your child about ‘lion’ for example), specifically named, large, clear and new (mean something your child does not already know). Essentially, it is commonly known as flash card.

5. You can create the flash card yourself. Collect the BOI from magazine, newspaper, journal and etc. Organize them into categories of intelligence. Cut or obtain 11″ x 11″ white cardboard. Glue the BOI on front of the cardboard. Label the BOI on back of cardboard with black marker. A web site called ‘Flashcard Exchange’ (http://flashcardexchange.com) is a great place where you can find load of flashcards ready made and you can print out with your printer. Since it is a community supported site, you could contribute too if you have some flashcards. Another web site using software flashcards is http://www.frankchenphoto.com/powerflashcard/. Alternatively, you can purchase the flashcards from shops.

6. To teach bit of intelligence. You position yourself and your child comfortably facing each other. Show the cards about 18″ away from your child. Make it like a game. Move the back BOI in the stack (get a quick look at the name you are about to say) to the front and say, ‘Tiger’. One second for each card and no longer. You must present the BOI very, very quickly.

7. Begin by introducing five different categories with ten BOI in each. Make sure you teach each category three times before the day ends. As your child progress, begin adding more categories day by day until you are doing ten different categories.

8. Ten days after you have reached ten categories, begin to retire one old BOI from each category daily. Place these retired BOI in your file for new use later. Add one new BOI to each category daily to replace the one your have retired. From this time on you continue to add one new BOI per category daily or a total of ten new BOI daily. This is a minimum number; you can introduce new BOI faster if you can. Don’t worry; the capacity of the brain of a tiny child can hold them with no question.

My personal experience shows that this method works perfectly. My children began to acquire knowledge like a super dry sponge. I was amazed by their photographic memory and the speed they could absorb the knowledge. My only regret was that I didn’t have enough time to create the BOI fast and sufficient enough. Therefore, I adopted another method to help my children to acquire encyclopedic knowledge through our daily life. I taught my kids on the make of cars when we walked in the car park, name of the petrol stations when we were driving around town. They can even practice the BOI that they have learned about vegetables or fruits when we were at the supermarket. The salient point is you can teach your child encyclopedic knowledge anytime, anywhere!

While I encourage you to teach your child encyclopedic knowledge, one should beware that the focus of education should not be mainly on the mastery of encyclopedia knowledge alone. For information is expanding geometrically, it is just impossible for you to teach your child to master all of it. Therefore, you need to nurture your child to develop a desire for continuous learning and the skills to master new information. You should also understand the important of teaching not just facts (BOI), but higher-order thinking skills as well such as creativity, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Car Insurance Quote - How Thousands of Motorists are Paying Over the Odds!

June 20th, 2008

1. Staying loyal to your current motor insurer can be a costly mistake. Since motor insurance companies favour drivers who fit their ‘ideal driver profile’, rates for the same driver vary from company to company.

So shop around. Do your research. Compare as many car insurance quotes as possible before renewing your current policy.

2. Buying car insurance online can save you between 5% and 10% with some insurance companies.

3. Low risk occupations and membership of certain professional organizations qualify you for significant discounts with many insurers.

4. Check out the safety and security discounts to which you are entitled, e.g. airbags, anti-lock brakes, anti-theft devices, such as alarms and immobilisers; off-road parking in garages or driveways.

5. Don’t forget your no claims bonus and other special discounts for drivers with a good safety record.

6. Look out for low-mileage discounts. Make sure not to overestimate your annual total.

7. Inquire about age-related discounts.
